Wife Elizabeth (Brooks) (58) plus daughter Sarah Ann (27) Barmaid + Housekeeper. No numbers stated on 1871 census but the "Beehive" was at 6 Alcester Street on the 1881 census. Their son William Edmund also lived in Alcester Street on the 1871 census but no numbers stated on this census. On the 1881 census Elizabeth was a widow and she was the Innkeeper of the "Beehive Inn". Edward was the licensee of the "Beehive" 1868-1879. In the 1872 Kelly's Directory Edmund was a Beer Retailer, Alcester Street. In the 1873 Gazetteer and Directory of Worcestershire Edmund was the Beer Retailer, "Bee Hive". In the 1876 & 1880 Kelly's Directory he was Beer Retailer, "Bee Hive", Alcester Street. Edmund died 10th April 1880 and was classed as Publican and Needle Hardener died at the "Bee Hive" Inn.
Elizabeth had daughter Sarah + 1 servant at home. Elizabeth was the licensee of the "Beehive" 1880-1886. Her daughter Miss Sarah Ann Free was the licensee 1887-1890. On the 1871 census Elizabeth lived with her husband Edmund at the same address and her husband was the Innkeeper then. In the 1880 & 1884 Kelly's Directory Elizabeth was Beer Retailer, 6 Alcester Street, Redditch. Elizabeth died 27th April 1886.
Wife Margaret (Harrison) (24) plus 1 daughter + 1 sister + 1 servant. On the 1901 census John is a Beerhouse Keeper at 6 Red Lion Street, Redditch. (In Old REdditch Pubs-Alan Foxall John was the licensee of the "Beehive Inn" 1891-1904) In the 1892 & 1900 Kelly's Directory John is classed as Beer Retailer, 6 Alcester Street.
Wife Margaret (38) plus 1 daughter at home. Possibly this was the Beehive Inn as a John William Parkinson was the licensee there 1891-1904 but the enumerator had this down as Red Lion Street but fairly sure this should have been Alcester Street. In the 1892 & 1900 Kelly's Directory it stated John William Parkinson was Beer Retailer, 6 Alcester Street. John died 4th July 1904 and he was living in Alcester Street.
In the 1912 & 1921 Kelly's Directory George Fitelson was still classed as George Fitelson, Bazaar, 6 Alcester Street.
In the Midland Counties Trade Directory 1948/49 J. L. Meylan was classed under Watchmakers & Jewellers, 6 Alcester Street. In the 1933 Cope's Directory & Buyer's Guide for Worcestershire under Watchmakers & Jewellers, J. L. Meylan, Alcester Street, Speciality repairs.
