Alcester Street was also one of the streets that was radically altered by the development of the new town centre.  The development of government buildings, commercial buildings and the Town Hall saw most of the original properties demolished. It, together with Market Place and Church Green East, become pedestrianised. These pages show the original properties and their inhabitants.

On early census records it appears Alcester Street was also known as Beoley Street, so these records of these have been included in this series. Similarly early census records do not show property numbers, these therefore are shown as “unknown”.
