(James Maries was the first licensee of the Printer's Arms in 1841-1850 and this was at 6 Evesham Street and it was so named because James Maries was a Printer - information from "Old Redditch Pubs", Alan Foxall). On the 1851 census James was a Printer and they lived in Windsor Street, Redditch. In the 1842 Bentley's Directory of Worcestershire vol-1 James was classed as Beerseller and Printer in Evesham Street. James died in 1863
Wife Rachel (42) plus 1 working daughter + 2 younger sons at home and they lived next door to Moses Cranmore. Thomas was the licensee of the "Printer's Arms" 1868-1878 and his wife Rachel was the licensee in 1879. On the 1861 census Thomas and Rachel lived in Bromsgrove Road, Redditch and Thomas was classed as Needle Pointer and Publican In the 1870 Kelly's Directory Thomas was classed as Beer Retailer, Evesham Street. Said the same in the 1872 Post Office Directory. In the 1873 Littlebury's Directory and Gazetteer he was classed as Refreshment House and Beer Retailer ( Printer's Arms), Evesham Street. Thomas died 28th February 1878 at Redditch and was classed as Refreshment House Keeper.
Wife Rachel (52) Beerhouse Keeper plus 2 working daughters + 1 servant at home. William was the licensee 1880-1882. In the 1884 & 1888 Kelly's Directory William is classed as Shoemaker, 9 Evesham Street. William died 11th June 1889.
In Occupation but not inhabited. On the earlier census this was owned by Moses Cranmore and then later it became Cranmore & Simmons. (On the 1901 census the enumerator started at this house after 1 Unicorn Hill)
In the 1924 Kelly's Directory he had Fishmongers at 8 & 35 Evesham Street. In the 1932 Kelly's Directory Leslie was Fishmonger, 6 Evesham Street. In the 1936 Kelly's Directory Leslie was Fishmonger 6 Evesham Street. In the Midland Counties Trade Directory 1948/49 L. Griffith was classed under Fishmonger, 6 Evesham Street.
