The census said wife Emma (18) but she was actually his daughter who was a Needle Sticker plus 4 other children at home. On the 1871 census William was married to Fanny (Briggs) who died in 1875 and they lived in Bates Hill and William was a Butcher and a Publican. On the 1841 and 1851 census he lived with his parents Henry and Catherine in Evesham Street and Henry was a Hairdresser but no numbers stated on early census. In the 1872 Post Office Directory William was classed as Butcher in Bates Hill, Redditch. He died 10th December 1882 in Evesham Street, Redditch.

It could be this James and also his brother Thomas was also mentioned as Butcher and Dealer in Evesham Street. In the 1860 Post office Directory James was a Butcher Evesham Street & Ipsley Street as was his brother Thomas. In the 1870 Kelly's Directory James was a Butcher in Evesham Street as was his brother Thomas. His father was Butcher and Farmer, Evesham Street & Tan Farm House. In the 1873 Littlebury's Directory James is a Butcher in Ipsley Street and his brother Thomas in Evesham Street. In the 1884 Kelly's Directory James is Butcher, Church Green West & Shopkeeper at 135 Ipsley Street. By the 1892 Kelly's Directory he is a Butcher at 8 Evesham Street and his son Frederick seems to be a Butcher at 18 Church Green West. James died in
Mary had daughter Fanny (46) and son Thomas (33) who was Butcher's assistant at home. On the 1891 census Mary was married to James who was a Butcher and they lived at 8 Evesham Street. She was mentioned in the 1900 and 1912 Kelly's as a Butcher at 8 Evesham Street. Mary died 26th March 1910 and was living 8 Evesham Street.
Wife Catherine Mary (Twigg) (37) + Thomas' sister at home. On the 1901 census Thomas lived with his mother Mary Briggs at 8 Evesham Street and they were both Butchers. In the 1924 & 1928 Kelly's Directory Thomas James Briggs was living "Parkwood house", Ipsley Street, Redditch.
On the 1911 census Thomas James Briggs lived at this address and he was a Butcher. His father was James Briggs who lived at this address on the 1891 census.
