Wife Susanna (47) plus 3 grown up children + 1 schoolchild at home. John was licensee of the "Vine Inn" 1854-1861. Lived at Chapel Green West,Redditch on the 1851 census and was a Butcher and had moved to Alcester Street by the 1871 census.
Wife Ann (42) plus 4 children + 1 servant at home. Joseph was the licensee of the "Vine Inn" 1871-1875. (On the 1871 census this was the last house in Evesham Street the enumerator went to before Vine Street)
Wife Mary (Melen) (40) plus 3 children + 1 servant + 1 boarder at home. Alfred was the licensee of the "Vine Inn" 1880-1893. (On the 1881 census the enumerator finished at this house before Vine Street) On the 1871 census they lived in Beoley Road and Alfred was a carpenter.
Wife Mary (37) Licenced Victualler assistant + son Frank 17 assistant + 2 schoolchildren + 1 servant at home. (On the 1891 census the enumerator stopped at this house in Evesham Street before going on to 2 Vine Street) On the 1871 census Alfred died 3rd May 1893 while still the licensee of the "Vine Inn".
Wife Sarah A. (Perry) (35) plus 1 son + 1 boarder at home. (On the 1901 census the enumerator stopped at this house before going on to 29 Worcester Road) Edwin was the licensee of the "Vine Inn" 1901-1911. On the 1891 census he was living with his mother Mary Ann and siblings in Millsborough Road and he was a Painter.
Edwin Henry Davis (widower)
Edwin had son + 1 servant at home. (On the 1911 census the enumerator started at this Pub in Evesham Street after "The Limes", Worcester Road)
Frank Field was possibly the son of Alfred Field who had been the licensee of the "Vine Inn", 1880-1893. The licensee of the "Vine Inn" was Oswald E. Connolly 1912-1916.
Thomas G. Hastings Thompson
Thomas was the licensee 1921-1925 and then in 1925 the old "Vine Inn" was knocked down and rebuilt as the "Talbot Hotel" - information taken from "Old Redditch Pubs" by Alan Foxall.
Robert Charles Walter Starkey
Robert Charles Walter Starkey was the licensee in 1940. In the 1940 Kelly's directory it mentions Redditch Angling Club. Also had an entry for Friendship Lodge; Headquarters, Talbot, Evesham Street.
This was formaly known as THE VINE. Then part of SANITY RECORD SHOP. Which is now Nationwide Building Society.
