In the 1860 Post Office Directory Walter and William Brown Maltsters and Corn Dealers, Evesham Street and Benjamin Brown (this Benjamin's son) was Baker and Miller, Alcester Street. Benjamin died 3rd January 1889 in Burcott and he was classed as a Gentleman.

In the 1873 Littlebury's Directory and Gazetteer it stated Walter and William Brown, Malsters, Corn & Coal Merchants and Bakers, Evesham Street; depot at Railway Station.

Still at 61 Evesham Street on 1891 and then his son John W. was at 61 Evesham Street and still in the family on the 1901 and 1911 census. In the 1884 and 1888 Kelly's Directory Walter and William Coal Merchants and Malsters at 61 Evesham Street. In the 1924 Kelly's Directory and then the family had moved to 71 Evesham Street in 1940 Kelly's Directory. On the 1901 census Walter was at Highfield House, Highfield Road, Redditch and still a Corn Merchant employer.

In the 1900 Kelly's Directory it stated Brown, Walter and William Limited (John Walter Brown, Managing Director) Coal Merchants & Malsters, 61 Evesham Street. Also in the private residents it stated that Walter Brown lived Highfield House, Headless Cross.
