However known to have been the licensee of the "Golden Salmon" 1860-1874 which was 133 Evesham Street. On the 1841 census Richard was living on his own in New End, Redditch. In the 1888 Kelly's Directory R. James & Sons, manufacturers & inventors of the main spring double pike hook, patent spring eyed treble, double & single salmon & trout fly hooks & all other kinds of fancy hooks for angling; established upwards of a century, "Lion Works", 135 Evesham Street. Richard died in 1886.

On the 1901 census he is now married to Sarah and they have 3 small children and lived in Stoke Prior and Joseph was a Fish Hook Manufacturer. By 1911 census Joseph was a widower and lived at 7 Silver Street.

In the 1975 Directory he just had the Bromsgrove address.
