Opposite the railway station, near to where the bus station is now, was Park House, a large residence built by the Thomas family of British Mills. The road in which it stood was called Park Road after it. The Thomas family sold it to the Shrimpton's.  Park Road ran from Bromsgrove Road to Evesham Street with Oakly Road branching off it towards Salop Road
