Lost Redditch Streets
In Red Lion Street were a line of cottages below pavement level and separated from the road by a handrail. They were reckoned to be the oldest houses in Redditch and were there until the Redditch Development Corporation arrived. The street took its name from The Red Lion, built by Herbert Willis, who was licensee from 1822 to 1823, when he was fifty years of age.
