Worcester Road ran from Evesham Street down to Oakley Road, but it was not always called Worcester Road.  It started off life as Red Cow Yard and later became Vine Street reflecting the hostelries that were in the area.  Once established as Worcester Road it became a fashionable area in which to live frequented by the professional classes with house names such as “Grafton House”, “The Limes” and “Eversleigh”.
