Thanks to the efforts of the the North Worcestershire Water Management Group who have cleaned and jetted the input gully we now have a small water feed again.
We think that more work may be needed but are hopeful now the gully is cleared, any heavy rain will wash remaining debris through. We may also have to “dam” the brook a little to provide a better head.

The MMCG mounted a display at the Beoley Fete at St. Leonard’s Church on Saturday 2nd July.
The display was specially prepared for the event and traced “The Battle For Moons Moat” from its assumed creation through to current activities to create a 10 year management plan for the site.

In the 1960s it is reported that a Mr. E. Bomford gave permission for the Archaeological digs on the Moons Moat Site. Nearby there is also Bomford Hill in Church Hill North. But who was mr. E. Bomford?
So far our searches for information about him have revealed nothing. Do you know anything about him and the ownership of Moons Moat prior to the Redditch Development Corporation taking over?

Tony Green led a part of about 100 over the first half of one of thre walks taking in the historic sites of Church Hill. Organised by The Church Hill Big Local Group the walk was from the Church Hill centre to Moons Moat where Children’s Activities, a Bar-B-Q and historic displays were on offer.

The MMCG mounted a display at the Heritage Open Day at Forge Mill on Sunday 11th September. The display traced “The Battle For Moons Moat” from its assumed creation through to current activities to create a 10 year management plan for the site.
Around 280 people attended the day, many being interested by our display.

The MMCG, has compiled a 5-year "Outreach Plan" of activities and events aimed at raising the profile of the site and encouraging more visitors.
The draft plan has been circulated to our partners, the CHBL, RBC and the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Services for review and comment.
A review meeting is now being planned to progress the proprosals.

As part of the plans to involve more Redditch residents in the restoration and use of Moons Moat, members of the MMCG met with the two principle local papers to discuss the plans.
As a result, both the Redditch Standard and the Redditch Advertiser ran article outling the proposed plans for the site.
We are pleased that this has already brought responses from readers and we hope that more people will volunteer to help in the proposed activities.

This site, the Moons Moat Conservation Group's web site, has recently had a bit of an update to reflect progress on the groups plans to restore the Moons Moat Web site.
A second major up date of the web site is planned for late March. This has be initiated by a change in the site authoring tools used with the previous software no longer being supported by its supplier.
The revised site will have the same familiar "Look & Feel" but the opportunity has been taken to revise, improve and extend the content.

Thanks to the efforts of Tom Curwell of North Worcestershire Water Management, some initial, non evasive, clearance work has been action on the site.
Firstly contractors push the boat out literally to undertake collection and clearance of debris and litter floating in the Moat.
At the same time some new growth trees and scrub has been cut back and some of the banks of the Moat are now more accessible.
There is still lots to do and more extensive work will be carried out once we have full approval of the Management Plan by Historic England.

As part of the first steps in our Outreach Plan, we are reviewing and revising our documentation of the site.
The first evidence of this is this site which has be re-written and restructured to be more consistent, to show more information and to be easier to navigate. This site is under constant review so new content will continue to be added.
Our second project is to produce a tri-fold leaflet to publicise and promote the site. A draft copy of that leaflet can be download from the "About" page of this site.
We have also carried out an initial review of our Education material and made a few additions as well as making access easier. A more detailed review is scheduled for later in the project. Visit the "Education" page for more details.
Lastly we are preparing an introductory talk covering Moated House in general and Moons Moat specifically, What out for more details soon.
