Welcome the Redditch Heritage ISTEL Page.
This site has been created to present information we have on the History and Heritage of Redditch and the surrounding area.
We don't profess to have all the information that exists on this topic, only that which Redditch residents have be kind enough to donate to us.
Also, we have not yet finished digitising, formatting and publishing all the data we have. As fast as we publish data, more is donated and, after viewing this site, we hope you will donate to the site, even if it is just your memories of Redditch.
With the volume of data we have, and continue to publish, we unfortunately make mistakes along the way. Typos, transpositions, mis-interpretations and just plain errors. We apologise for this but ask you you just to jot down the page and the problem and send it in. Once we know about it we will correct it in due course.
We have tried to structure this site in a logical manner and in a way that you can easily find what you are looking for. It is based upon a series of "Galleries". Imagine the top level gallery is a room in a museum focusing on a specific area of local history. Go into that room and you will find individual display galleries on specific subjects about that area of Redditch local history Look at that gallery and you will see various display of history in formation or research on that topic.
How that information is displayed will vary from topic to topic, we have tried to choose a format which best suits that topic. The formats used include on-line "Flip-books" to ready, Image galleries for photographs and documents, playable audio clip and video films where we have them and formatted text for mixed content. In many cases there will be menu you could browse to find specific topic or persons contribution.
So, like a physical museum, just browse around and follow the icons and menus and you should "drill down" to the detail on the site. Again if you find links that don't work or srend you in the wrong direction please tell us and we can correct it.
In fact, that's about all the help we can offer. The more you visit the site the more we think that you will understand what it contains.
