A few items of ISTEL branded promotional memorabilia and documents from ISTEL's history.

Perhaps you have some other items we could include.
A Selection of ISTEL Memorabilia, including:
A5 notepad and pencil (all still in use)  ISTEL and AT&T ISTEL compliments slips  AT&T ISTEL leather bound and boxed diary  Three beer mats: ISTEL, COMET (email system) and AT&T ISTEL   ISTEL car rear window sticker
My well used ISTEL mug is no longer alive, as the logo faded into total oblivion. I thought that I had an ISTEL frisbee but it appears not – maybe such a thing never existed.

Here is one for the ex mainframe ops out there. Makes a great paperweight.

For those  who don't know what it is, Dave Handley writes....

Whilst the most common use today appears to be a paperweight, in the 1980s these were widely used to store mainframe data at CDC.

The MSS Mass Storage System provided the random access feature of disks but was based around much cheaper tape technology.

This little cartridge was 2 inches by 4 inches held 770 inches of tape. These were stored in a honeycomb shaped library , automated accessors ran along a track to collect a specific cartridge and deliver to a read station when requested.

The MSS was very popular to visitors to CDC - many were fascinated by the speed of the accessors and reading of tapes.

As disk storage costs reduced in the 1990"s the MSS was no longer needed.
