This site was originally established in 2014 to present the finding of the “lost Streets” project. This project documented the street in Redditch Town Centre that had been lost to the New Town Development.

In 2016, the site was expanded to document further project work of the Redditch Local History Society, specifically the “Redditch HIstory in Print”, the “Redditch In Wartime” and the emerging archives of artefacts held by the society.

By 2019 a wide range of local history topics had been added to the site and a major reformatting of the style of presentation of this information took place.

Since 2019 major changes have taken place with the creation of the Redditch local History Museum with its own web presence and the re-focusing of the Redditch Local History Society as the Redditch History Society which now encompasses historic content outwith Local History.

It is therefore appropriate that the Redditch Virtual Museum site is again restructured to act as a “gateway” into all the sources of local history and archinging facilities.

Visitors will appreciate this is a major exercise being undertaken by limited resources and as such the new site will evolve progressively over the next months.
