Down Bates Hill

Had we gone the other way from Hepworth, Down Unicorn and Bates Hill we would have passed a couple of shops before the Trustee buildings society, later the Halifax. There there was an Outfitters, next an Archway, the Dentists, Cardinal Tevry or Williams then Bates Hill Methodist Church, At the bottom of Bates hill were houses, shops and more houses.

From here you can go into Adelaide Street or round the corner into Hewell Road.

If you had come down Bates Hill on other side there was Mills Cycle Shop, a wall then Custerson’s Electrical Shop and then at the bottom the junction with Windsor Street and Hewell Road.
