NextBackThe Eastern Pavement of Church Green East is cut in two by Peakman Street between Nos. 20 and 21. The picture shows the unchanged junction looking west from Peakman Street towards Church Green. The building to the left is The Sportsmans Arms, the façade of which is largely unchanged. The building to the right was Webbs Bakery.
In the 1950s across the road from my bedroom at No.2 Wellington Street there was a building which housed Webbs Delivery Vans. Most of these were battery powered and at night I could clearly hear the hum of the chargers transformer.
