Planning a wedding

NextBack

“Life was particularly tough and we were planning a wedding in 1942.”

"My wife managed to get all the clothing coupons together and we had a white wedding with two bridesmaids in green. She bought the dresses from McGilcrest in Redditch. Some how her mother managed to dish up a reception at home for about 20 or 30. Of course, there was no accommodation anywhere. You couldn't get a house or a flat anything like that. We lived for a few months with an aunt of my wife's in Prospect Road. Then her father bought a house down Easemore Road and rented it out to us"
