Co-op
NextBackOn the corner of George Street was the Co-op selling everything from food to furniture, to clothes. I remember staring longingly into their window aged about fourteen, looking at the latest brown suede jacket that I could not afford, and which would have made me the smartest young toff in town. Over the top was the Avon School of Dancing which I visited for a period to learn to dance. This was run by Judy Balls whose husband Tony was later best known as Tony of Handyman fame. In the two hours from 7.00pm until 9.00pm we danced the night away, and squashed a few toes as well!
