On 28th October 1941 he had been made temporary Captain Regular Army Emergency Commission, at the time he was second lieutenant.  On the 2nd October 1942 he had been reported as missing at Sea to the War Office Casualty Section and classed as temporary Major.  On the 14th October he was reported to War Office Casualty Section as having died at Sea.

He is also remembered on family grave at St Luke's Cemetery, Bromley, London, www.findagrave.com.  Whitstable Times and Herne Bay Herald – Saturday 31st October 1942
