The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 2nd October 1915, states that he was presented with a marble clock and a framed address by the directors and employees of the Redditch “Indicator” Company (Limited), in recognition of his gallantry in June last, when he risked his life in attempting to recover the body of Lieutenant Malcolm Kerwood, of the same regiment, who was killed while conducting a reconnoitring party. He had been awarded the D.C.M. for that action. The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 30th November 1918, states that he was a D.C.M. and wounded. The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 6th October 1917, states he was wounded.
