The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 1st July 1916 - A letter received by his parents - He had taken part in the battle of Katia, after which he was officially reported as “wounded and missing.”  Nothing further had been heard of him until a letter arrived this week, transmitted through the *Comite International de la Croix – Rouge Geneve.  The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 21st October 1916 and The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 15th February 1919, which states that he was one of several returning prisoners of war welcomed back in Tardebigge.  Upwards of two hundred and fifty parishioners assembled in Lord Plymouth’s Schools.  A capital tea was served in the Infant’s Schoolroom and then all adjourned to the Mixed Schoolroom for the presentation.
