His body was not recovered for burial.  Awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.

The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 2nd September 1916, Western Daily Press – Wednesday 11th October 1916, Evening Despatch – Saturday 25th September 1915 and Worcester News Archives – Monday 11th August 2014.  They state that he had been presented with the Albert Medal in 1913 by King George V at Buckingham Palace for saving a boy's life when he had fallen down an open sewer.  Private George Frederick Irish, 14th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, is remembered on the Battle of the Somme Roll of Honour at:- http://somme-roll-of-honour.com/Alphabet/ir.htm
