Birmingham Daily Post – Saturday 7th December 1918 - Under heavy shell fire he succeeded in maintaining communication between battalions and brigade headquarters throughout four days’ operations.  He reorganised the visual signalling stations and showed great coolness under fire.  Awarded the bar to the D.C.M.  The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 14th December 1918
