Baptised as John William Percy Pitney on 23rd June 1895 at St Stephen's, Redditch and his parents were John and Alice Pitney.  He was known as Percy on the 1911 census.

The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 8th September 1917, states that he was wounded.  The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 30th November 1918, states that he has been killed.
