Redditch Heritage The Lost Lake
A section of the earthworks dam before its final removal in 1983.
From about 1939, the channel was used solely to supply water to the High Duty Alloys
factory in Redditch for cooling. The floodgate system, known locally as Buggins' Hole,
was breached during a storm in 1942. It was repaired by High Duty Alloys, before finally
colapsing in 1956. The channel continued to be partially maintained for field drainage
and cattle watering.
