Other sources of Newspaper articles
In addition to the on-line sites we have collected articles from the following sources.
● Old editions on Newspapers acquired from historian, Alan Foxall
● Cuttings frpm librarian Philip Davis Library Cuttings & Albums dated 1980s - 1990s
● 2000+ Online Redditch Advertiser & Redditch Standard articles covering the last last 10
years
● Articles from current delivered editions of the Redditch Advertiser and the Redditch Standard.
We were lucky to gain a £500 grant from RBC which enabled us to:
● Professionally Copy the old papers
● Professionally print selected pages
● Acquire display materials
● Copy & print other stories
● Hold an exhibition
Attempts to use Professional Copying services to copy old editions of newspapers was not
Successful. They tended to use Roll feed scanners for A3 size sheets and these tended to
damage to already delicate pages. They also did not give a scan quality that was acceptable
This device mounted a digital camera over
an “air table” which sucked the paper to its
service to provide a flat image for copying.
Using our home built “Photo Copier we
photographed pages of the newspapers to
get images like that shown opposite (above)
These we “Photoshopped” to improve the
quality, remove blemishes and edit down to
presentable image`like the image below
opposite..
