The End of an Era
When the RDC Board met on 19 January 1984, it was confirmed that the Secretary of
State had issued a directive which would effect housing transfer on 1 April 1985 and the
transfer of industrial and commercial assets to the Commission for New Towns on 2 April
1985. As a consequence the wind-up of the Corporation was postponed from December
1984 to 1 April 1985 and its dissolution to 30 June 1985.
