Remembering ISTEL
The Purchase of BL Systems Limited.
About ten year after BL Systems was formed, and its success after it was floated
of as a separate company, rather that a division of British Leyland it was
decided that a management led, employee buyout was the next evolutionary
development.
The first step was in 1983 with the company name was changed ISTEL from BL
Systems Limited. This change was to ensure that its work and achievements
outside the BL corporation was recognised.
The first public announcement of the plan was made one week before
Christmas in 1985.
