In a personal message to all the customers who have visited Mount Pleasant, the
postmaster, Serge Bali, said:
“It has come as a total shock to me that the Post Office has plans to close this office.
“I have been pleased to have been your postmaster here for the past 21 years and
hope that you have also been pleased with the service that I, my wife Jaz, and all
my staff have given you. I hope that you can keep our post office open and my
family and I can continue to serve you for another 21 years.”
Former Redditch mayor Madge Tillsley MBE said:
“The prospect of Mount Pleasant Post Office closing is absolutely dreadful. It is a
lifeline for so many elderly people and we should do all we can to protect it.”
Mark Partington, Post Office Ltd’s network development manager for Herefordshire,
Worcestershire and the West Midlands, said he believes the proposals offer the best
prospect for a sustainable way forward for Post Office services.
Campaigners have made posters, objection forms and a website for people who want
to find out more, at www.savempporedditch.co.uk. Help the Aged is also providing a
