Hollingtons department store
NextBackHalf way along Evesham Street was Hollingtons department store, which was a long double fronted building selling everything you needed for your household. I seem to remember they had one of those interesting little contraptions in which the cashier put your money into a small metal tin, pressed some sort of lever and the whole lot shot around the shop on wires to the back, whence the correct change or whatever came speeding back. They used to good trade in curtains and bolts of cloth as I remember together with furniture for which (just after the war) you had to give them a handful of coupons.
