Redditch Heritage My Palace Theatre and other Memories
During my lifetime, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to have either known,
or shared a stage with many of the local talented entertainers of yesteryear, I
will name a few, some who went professional, and in advance apologize for any
omissions,
Mavis Bennet, Millicent Phillips, Alan Styler, (Doyle E’Carte), Eric Grier (Charlie
Chester Company), Eddie Crumpton, Cliff Field, Bert Bate, Muriel Griffin (who
embarrassed herself on the Wilfred Pickells broadcast), Lilian Beale, Heather
White, Don Hughes, John Emms, Cosmotheka, Monte Banks, Reg Dixon, Peter
Jennings (the George Mitchell Singers) Jack Dillon, and the following were some
of my colleagues at the Redditch Stage School, Colin Stowe (Jack Carden
dancers at the London Palladium), Mary Clarke (Television Toppers), Margaret
White (Macari’s Dutch Serenaders), Mervyn Francis, (with the Duggie Chapman
company), Barbara Rowbottom (one half of the MacAndrews and Mills dancing
