Charles Edward Wilkes

               Gunner Charles Edward Wilkes Service No 176574, 126th Brigade, Royal Horse Artillery and
                                                                                     th
               Royal Field Artillery, resided and enlisted in Redditch, killed in action, 16  August 1917,
               Western European Theatre.
               Forces War Records, states that he was the husband of E. Wilkes of Back 15, 2 Ipsley Street,
               Redditch.

               Remembered on St Stephen’s war memorial, Redditch.

               (On the 1911 census Charles Edward Wilkes aged 21, born in Redditch, Collier Hewer, lived with his wife Elise
               and baby son at 17 Gorsey Lane, Lower Landywood, Nr. Walsall.

               Gunner C. E. Wilkes (R.F.A.), of Redditch, killed in action, was 27 years of age, and has served
               in the Army prior to this war.  He leaves a widow and four children.  Four of the deceased’s
               brothers are serving in the Army.
