The Outreach Plan
The Moons Moat Conservation Group is also championing an Outreach Plan to raise public awareness of the site and encourage individuals and local groups to take advantage of the facilities it offers.  The suggested programme includes a series of talks and walks to introduce residents, local groups and all who would find interest in the moat, its history and significance. The walks are based upon those previously organised by the Redditch Local History Society, Church Hill Big Local and Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service to give opportunity for those taking part to‘discover’ the Moat in the context of its surrounding historical and physical environment.

A series of special days are also suggested to encourage families to visit the Moat - to meet, take refreshments and interact with others in activities designed to increase their skills, knowledge and enjoyment of this historic site. The proposed “skills days” will be tailored to the attendees and include some initial skills training with coaching upon the practical application of those skills in the context of the Moons Moat site.

The last proposals are aimed specifically at the young with workshops, led by experts, targeted at local schools, colleges and youth groups. Some will be curriculum-related and some extra-curricular, many with a creative or investigative focus - but all interactive and ‘hands-on’
.
