Pam’s original picture we think showed the completion of the chimney in the 1920’s. In
1964, four warning blasts on a whistle marked the end of the brickworks chimney. It was
demolished by Cater's, and it fell just where it was intended, between the two buildings
on the left of the picture.
So the 130ft brickworks chimney, built in 1929 was reduced to a pile of rubble in February
1964. Lowan's Hill farmhouse is just visible over the rooftops of Bromsgrove Road.
