The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town
Redditch Market
In the 1950s & ‘60s the market
flourished in the area bounded
by Walford Street, George Street
& Red Lion Street
A typical market day. A place to
shop and meet friends.
With the development of the
Kingfisher Centre in the 1970s, a
new dedicated area was created
known as Royal Square.
The Royal Square location was
popular with all. As well as the
market stalls, there were shops and
a Food Hall around the perimeter
of the square as well as easy access
to the Kingfisher Centre shops.
