The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town
Education in Redditch - The Legacy……
Today Redditch has an efficient system that works well and where schools generally
perform to a high standard.
The identification of appropriate sites for schools to be built within the village principle
means that families are well served by their local schools.
The move in 1970/1 to a three tier system (First, Middle and High Schools) continues to
meet the needs of families in Redditch.
The community has benefited by having local sports centres that were available from the
opening of several High
Schools.
The reduction in the
number of schools from
40 to 29 means the
education system is cost
effective and remaining
schools have had more
resources as a result.
Nursery provision has
expanded as a result of
savings following the
Education Review of
1998-2001.
NEW College has
expanded to become the
largest college in
Worcestershire offering a
wide range of full time
and part time courses up
to degree level.
2012 saw Trinity High
School named as the
most improved school in
England.
