Each theatre company is planning to cover 20 years of the theatre’s history from its opening
in 1913, with the last 20 years covered by the Harlequins to represent the future of theatre in
the area.
Redditch councillor Phil Mould, portfolio holder for leisure and tourism, said: “Imagine all the
performances that this stage has seen over 100 years and all the people that have taken
part. These days about 10,000 people a year are involved in putting on shows at the Palace,
whether they’re set building, making costumes, playing instruments or acting, and at least
five times that many people come here to see the shows.
“The Palace Theatre continues to span the generations and this centenary celebration show
will highlight its history and shine a light on its future.”
The Centenary Celebration Show starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 7. Tickets are £12
from the box office on 01527 65203 or at redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk.
