Wit and word meister Gyles Brandreth to visit Redditch’s Palace
Theatre - 2016

AFTER taking last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival by storm, Gyles Brandreth is setting out on
a UK tour with his brand new show Word Power! and will be stopping off in Redditch.
Brandreth’s previous two shows were both five star sell-outs and Word Power! proved to be
just as engaging and boisterous as its predecessors.
He is now bringing the show to The Palace Theatre.
Word fanatic Giles said: "The show takes you on a roller-coaster ride around the amazing
world of words.
"It’s a show that should make you laugh and might even make you cry. It’s based around my
lifelong love of words and includes stories from my life in the theatre and politics. It’s a show
for people who love live theatre and who enjoy listening to Just A Minute or watching QI."
He added: "With my Word Power! show, I hope audiences will have a happy, surprising,
interesting time.
"The one thing they’ll know is that it’s live: a real performer with a real audience having an
evening together that’s unique. Every show is a little bit different. I hope you’ll come and,
afterwards, I hope you’ll come and say hello."
Founder of the National Scrabble Championships and president of the Association of British
Scrabble Players, Gyles has appeared on every word-based radio and TV game show and is a
regular visitor to Countdown’s Dictionary Corner.
He is one of Britain’s busiest after-dinner speakers and award ceremony hosts and has won
and been nominated for awards, as a public speaker, novelist, children’s writer, broadcaster,
journalist and businessman.
He has even featured on This Is Your Life and Desert Island Discs.
