John’s Education
1953 – 1960 Wilton House Private School, Worcester Rd,
Redditch. (The road was demolished in 1970s as part of the town’s
redevelopment) The school was a very large old house consisting of
3 classrooms with 3 lady teachers and a matronly headmistress.
John aged 7
1960 – 1964 Lodge Farm County Secondary School,
Studley Road, Redditch. His headmaster, Gordon Anstis
stated in John’s school report: "He will either end up a
dustman or a millionaire.”

Family Homes
The Bonham family moved from Hunt End into Redditch c1952 to 157 Easemore Road.
When John was around 14, the family moved back to Hunt End, buying a property in
Enfield Road.
Here in a caravan in the back garden, John would practise his drum playing on a “drum
kit of sorts” that he’d bought from his pocket and odd-job monies.
