Redditch People
Though he started work at a grocer shop called George Mason’s in Redditch but at the age
of 29, he went to the Opera House, Blackpool for six weeks as a backing singer, a baritone
for Max Bygraves.
He was a singer, entertainer and an extra on many television shows over the years,
appearing in the background on Eastenders, sometimes playing a piano in the Queen Vic.
He appeared also in Poldark as footman, an alien on Dr Who and an extra on many other
shows
Cllr. Jack Field
Redditch Mayor in 2008
Jack Field served in the Royal Artillery in Africa,
Nigeria and the Gold Coast. He joined the
Conservative Party in 1950 and first stood as
Conservative councillor for Crabbs Cross in 1999. He
remained in office until his death.
