John “Johnny” Emms
Singer and Actor
John Charles “Johnny” Emms, was born in Redditch 1931 - 2009
and is buried in Astwood Bank Cemetery. He
started work at George Mason’s grocer shop in Johnny Emms
Redditch but at the age of 29 he went to the Opera (Source: Record Sleeve Photo)
House, Blackpool for six weeks as a backing singer
for Max Bygraves.
He was a singer, entertainer and an extra on many
television shows over the years, appearing in the
background on Eastenders, sometimes playing a
piano in the Queen Vic. He also appeared in Poldark
as a footman, an alien in Dr. Who and an extra on
many other shows.
