Martin Dybeck
Founder of the Batteries
In 1919, Martin Dybeck started a subsidiary in the UK
of the Swedish battery company A. B. Junger under
the name of The Batteries Ltd.
The first factory was at Hunt End but later it moved
to the Smallwood site currently occupied by B & Q
and Matalan.
Martin was the managing director of The Batteries -
from 1919 until 1943.

Shortly after World War 1 a young engineer, Martin Dybeck, arrived in the UK to establish
a subsidiary of the Swedish (Nife) Jungner battery company. This was to build the
