Redditch Heritage                                       My Palace Theatre and other Memories











































        Firstly Redditch's first professional comedian was Andy Lane who toured the

        theatres and music halls in the 1920s.  Andy was a former bricklayer and his
        family home was in Pardons Road. His father was a general foreman for Huins and

        Seedon an old established local builder.  He created great interest and a large
        following when he packed the Palace Theatre for folks to hear a song he had just

        written about the locality called "Where is the Red in Redditch"?  He was before
        my time, but Lillian Beale remembered him well and the second lines were Where

        is the stud in Stanley? and where is the bee in Beoley? I can't remember the rest.
