I then worked on the police houses at the Mayfields and Feckenham, which was

then occupied by Police Constable Henry Moyle, who had been the local bobby for
eighteen years and also Batchley which was then occupied by Sergeant Harold

(Harry) Wright who later left Redditch and returned many years later in the
rank of Superintendent. I think he probably lives locally in retirement and if he

reads this I would like him to get in touch to reminisce about the old days.

My firm also carried out large alterations to farm buildings at Dormston and

Horne’s Hall Farm , later renamed Robin Hill Farm at Tardibigge, a building later
occupied by Harry Tarleton, a well know retired local builder.

We used to be conveyed around the sites like cattle on the back of lorries, that
is where practice of wolf whistling originated, now, like almost everything else,

        illegal.
