Redditch Relief Fund – A largely attended meeting of the war Relief Committee was
held at the Council House, Redditch, on Tuesday night, Mr J. Guise (Chairman of the Redditch
Urban District Council) presiding. – It was decided that in order to deal with and relieve any
distress which may arise in the town and district, a war relief fund be opened, and that the
moneys should, unless otherwise specified by the subscriber, be used for the relief of all
distress during the war, whether arising from Industrial conditions or other causes. – In
response to an appeal for funds, about £300 was subscribed in this room, many promises
being received of regular weekly or monthly contributions while the war lasts. – Mr G. W.
Hobson was appointed hon. secretary of the committee, Mr J. Guise chairman, and Mr H. A.
Pearson hon. treasurer. Sub-committees to administer the fund and make other
               arrangements were also appointed.
