               The Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger – Saturday 6  January

               Webheath Soldier Killed – Mr and Mrs T. Griffen, of Webheath have received
               information of the death of their son, Private Griffen, Worcestershire Regiment, which
                                        th
               occurred on December 19  He was wounded a few days previously.  Private Griffen had been
               at the front only a few months.  He was 21 years of age.

               Regiment, born in Webheath, resided and enlisted in Redditch, died of wounds, 19
               December 1916, Mesopotamia.)
               Remembered on St Philip’s Church war memorial Webheath and St Bartholomew’s Church war memorial,
               Tardebigge.

               (On the 1901 census Frank Griffin, aged 5 was in the Smallwood Hospital, Church Green, Redditch.)
