               Redditch Casualties – Private Frank Griffen, son of Mr T. Griffen, of Heathfield Road,

               Redditch, was killed in France on 19  December.  He was in the 9  Worcesters and was 21
               years of age.

               Mrs Broom, of Brockhill Lane, Redditch, has received information that her husband, Private

               A. C. Broom, No. 27905, 3  Worcesters has been killed in France.  He was 22 years of age.

               Worcestershire Regiment, born in Cobley, Worcs., resided and enlisted in Redditch, killed in

               action, 15  October 1916, France.  Mentioned on Thiepval Memorial, Picardie, France.)
               Remembered on St Philip’s war memorial, Webheath, Redditch and St Bartholomew’s Church war memorial,
               Tardebigge.
               (On the 1901 census Arthur was aged 7, lived with his parents John and Eliza Broom in Butler’s Wood, Cobley
               and Tutnall, Worcs., his father was a Gamekeeper.)

               Second-Lieutenant Percy Leach, R.F.A. eldest son of Mr G. E. Leach, J.P., of the Gables,
               Redditch has been wounded.

               Private Harold Guest, son of Mr J. Guest, Astwood Bank, has been wounded.

               Corporal Walter Rose, of Alvechurch, South Staffordshire Regiment, has been wounded in
               action and has lost the sight of one of his eyes.
