The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town
Sadly, the development of the New
Town saw the loss of some well
known employment landmarks,
such as Millward’s Washford Mills.
It also saw the loss of other facilities
such as the Gas Works on Windsor
Road, but this was as much due to
progress in the industry as the New
Town development.
In their place, the town’s industrial
landscape changed with new industrial
sites being created to ensure jobs were
available for the growing population.
These industrial estates were
carefully planned to include flexible
units of all sizes, from small starter,
through to medium and large sites.
This ensured small firms could grow
and there was the right sized unit for
organisations attracted to relocate to
the town.
