The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town

Church Green would be redesigned to extend the lawns around the Church; replacing the
roadway and pavements by paved areas; providing kiosks, play spaces for children, and
seating for the tired and elderly; and plant more trees in varying stages of maturity, so
that when the existing trees died future generations would find newer, younger trees well
       established to take their place.

       The Legacy - Church Green

Church Green is one area where the old Redditch can still be seen and with the advent
of pedestrianisation on two sides much of the above vision has been realised.

       Out Of Town

Out of the town centre, Highfield House, the old Ipsley Court and the commercial parks
at the Oaks off Coldfield Drive, Parklands Business Centre off the Warwick Highway and
offices in Moons Moat provide further office accommodation.
The Development Corporation only envisaged “Convenience” stores serving residential
districts but commercial retail parks dominated the late 20th century shopping expansion
