The HISTORY of REDDITCH New Town
The Bandstand
The Bandstand is part of Redditch’s heritage.
A few years ago plans were muted to move the Bandstand and there was a public
outcry.
In 2013 the Borough Council organised a series of Saturday Concerts at the Bandstand
but attendance was not as high as was hoped.
In 2014 plans to improve the Bandstand were dropped due to financial constraints but
work is going ahead to improve the area around the Bandstand in preparation for the
2014 summer concerts.
The Bandstand concerts will be just one of the activities in 2014 which will form the
SO-Redditch celebrations of 50 years since Redditch was designated a New Town.
A colourful display of music and dancing at the 2013 Bandstand Festival was enjoyed by
a small but enthusiastic audience.
